OUR PROMISE
It is our responsibility to leave the earth intact to the next generation. A better world in which people deal with nature and each other with care. In our factory we have made socially responsible production the basis. The clothing industry is a dirty business. Quite heavy on pollution, slave labor, and with a huge impact on people and our planet. At Claesen’s we try our best to be the most sustainable option. CERTIFIED MATERIALS
Everybody knows that the traditional materials which are used in the Textile Business have a big impact on the environment and the people involved in making these clothes. That's why we only work with materials that are certified and that are organic or recycled. Then only you have perfect control on the materials which are used. Here you can read more about our materials and certifications.
OEKO-TEX
Claesen's is proud to announce that all styles in knitted fabrics are certified in accordance with the global Oeko-Tex Standard 100 per October 2016. The OEKO-TEX® 100 standard has requirements for the final product and aims to guarantee that products are made of 100% organic cotton, with or without blends of elastane, free of harmful substances and therefore safe for human health and the environment too. This is very important because underwear and pajamas are worn directly on the skin.
RECYCLED POLYESTER
At Claesen’s we only use recycled certified polyester (GRS-standard) for our polyester swimwear. Polyester is one of the most popular textiles for garments as it’s durable, quick-drying and light feeling. The recycled polyester we use is made from post-consumer plastic waste like plastic bottles or discarded polyester textiles, which is then cleaned, shredded and spun into new yarn. As recycled polyester comes from waste that otherwise would end up in landfill, it also has a good impact on waste management. By buying products made of recycled polyester we are reducing waste and the negative impact on the environment. .
BC & GOTS
From end of 2024 onwards most of Claesen’s garments will have the BC & GOTS certificate, which stands for Better Cotton and Global Organic Textile Standard, which means that from the beginning of cotton farming during the whole supply chain to the consumers: the whole process is done as sustainable as possible.
CONSUMER PACKAGING
Claesen’s webshop bags are made of recycled poly bags. Nowadays it is not yet possible to eliminate all plastic bags yet, because they protect our products from dirt and humidity. Without the bags the garments could be damaged while transporting the goods, which would be much more a bigger waste of resources while using poly bags. We are sure our customers recycle the bags, because this is just a number one priority
MANUFACTURER PACKAGING
We have made guidelines for our suppliers that all our export cartons are made of FSC-certified cardboard. All Packaging paper is recycled paper. We recycle all our cardboard which we have in our warehouse.
LOGISTICS
As a very high priority we always ship our goods by the most environmental friendly way, which is by ship or by lorry. Because of a well structured communication and very smooth logistic management with our factories, we never have to use a flight to transport our products to the Netherlands because of late delivery.
LIVING WAGES
Living wages is one of the most essential issues for the textile industry, and something that all textile brands must work towards. Claesen’s is auditing every year controlling the certificates of the SA8000 that covers control on: health, safety at work, discrimination, working hours and salary. We ensure good working conditions and a good income for all our workers and their families. We often visit our factory and suppliers to ensure that quality standards are guaranteed.
CIRCULARITY
We at Claesen’s are very proud in manufacturing garments of the highest quality, made to be worn and re-worn by as many kids as possible. Our aim is to keep the quality as high as possible to contribute to sustainability. We do SGS washing tests with every collection, we only give green light when the garments still look like new after many times washing! We encourage you to wear Claesen's items for a long time and to pass on from brother and sister to cousin and niece! We also believe in giving old garments a second chance, we are very proud to see all secondhand platforms and stores where you can buy and resell a lot of Claesen’s clothes that no longer fit your kids, so that they can be loved by the next generation Claesen’s fans.
